Event description

Description

Shibori is a Japanese manual resist dye technique that typically involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it to create incredible patterns post dying.

In doing this workshop you will have the opportunity to experiment and explore fabric folding techniques including Itajime, Arashi and Kanoko using silk and cotton fabrics. You will dye your shibori creations in an Indigo dye vat. You will learn the brief historical context of this technique, the types of resources and fabrics used for this process. The workshop is suitable for all levels.

The workshop is £45.00 which includes all materials and resources. You are able to bring your own natural fibre fabrics for experimentation. Please bear in mind that results will vary depending on your choice of fabrics. Please bring an apron or some clothing you can wear in the workshop which you don’t mind getting dyes onto!

Date: Saturday 9th February 2019

Time: 10am-2pm
