Exploring Social Issues in Storytelling with author Helen Aitchison

By Northumberland Libraries

Overview

Helen talks about her career, local support services, writing as a platform to discuss social issues, and supporting people in our community

Helen Aitchison worked in social care for over 2 decades, including in support work, strategic development, and management of domestic abuse services across the region.

She now runs her own community interest company, Write on the Tyne, which aims to make creative writing and storytelling inclusive and therapeutic. As a published author, she uses both fiction and non-fiction to raise awareness of social injustice, campaign for change, and to help people feel heard and empowered.

This free event is part of Northumberland County Council's 16 Days of Action and White Ribbon Day 2025.
