Exploring the position of academic skills provision in HE
Tue 25 April 2017, 09:00 – 17:00 BST
The aim of this conference is explore the role of academic skills provision within the learning and teaching activities of a modern university. As such, it will appeal to anyone engaged in teaching activities within higher education; in particular, it will interest staff from professional services (e.g. academic skills advisors; librarians; careers advisors etc.), who are often heavily involved in the preparation and delivery of this type of provision. The papers to be presented will provide stimulating discussion of best practice examples drawn from a variety of different contexts. 'Academic skills' will be interpreted broadly as any provision designed to enhance the academic development of students. Contributions will likely focus on topics as diverse as academic writing, information literacy, and work-based learning scenarios.
