Exploring the Sharing economy with Professor Julian Agyeman
Thu 12 May 2016, 19:00 – 21:00 BST
Friends of the Earth is very excited to be hosting a visit from Julian Agyeman, Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University. He is the originator of the concept of ‘just sustainabilities,‘ the full integration of social justice and sustainability. He is also co-author of “Sharing Cities: A Case for Truly Smart and Sustainable Cities”.
The book explores how the concept of sharing offers cities the opportunity to connect smart technology to justice, solidarity and sustainability.
Julian will be joining us at the Impact Hub to discuss the ideas in his book and we will be exploring how we can build on these ideas to deliver a better quality of life and healthier environment in Birmingham.
We will also be joined by practitioners of the Sharing Economy from across West Midlands such as The Impact Hub itself, The Warehouse Birmingham, Northfield Ecocentre, Co-Wheels Birmingham, Moseley and Kings Heath Shed, Localise West Midlands, Fizzpop, Community Energy Birmingham, Birmingham Freegle and Borroclub.
So come prepared to listen, learn and engage about the potential of the sharing economy across the region.
