Come along to our first Stockport workshop to demystify the process of getting into politics. We will explore the stages involved in getting elected; joining a party, becoming an activist, through to selection and election and explore how women can best prepare for this role.

We are delighted to be joined by Ann Coffey MP and Councillor Laura Booth who will share why they wanted to get involved in politics and what it took to get there.

Ann Coffey has been the Labour Member of Parliament for Stockport since 1992. She is Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Runaway and Missing Children and Adults.

Councillor Laura Booth was elected as a Labour Councillor in 2012 during which time she was National Chair of Disability Labour. In 2014 she left the party and became an independent councillor, joining the Liberal Democrats a year later and becoming Secretary of the Liberal Democrats Disability Association. Earlier this year she rejoined the Labour Group and continues to hold her seat representing the ward of Offerton.
