Description

Export Bootcamp is a two-day workshop led by Scottish Development International in partnership with Business Gateway. You’ll need to attend both days to complete the programme: Thursday 16 May, 9.30 am – 4.00 pm and Thursday 23 May 2019, 9.30 am – 4.30 pm

Are you a business who would like to start exporting? Get ready to grow your business abroad with our help. Learn how to reach international markets with confidence, even with Brexit impending, and get practical know-how on:

  • Exporting benefits, market analysis and entry

  • International finance, contracts and logistics

  • Creating an export action plan


What you’ll learn

  • How to effectively research and exploit international opportunities 

  • What market entry options are right for your business 

  • How to effectively navigate export documentation, from developing your international pricing strategy to what currency to be paid in 

  • How to develop your value proposition for your international customer

  • Next steps for your business

It’s an opportunity to gather resources to develop your own international action plan to implement into your business and network with other like-minded businesses.


What’s included?

Day one

Market analysis - why export?, importance of export planning including starting to prepare for Brexit and the implications, selecting target markets, market research, basic legal issues, protecting your intellectual property

Market entry - routes to market and different options available: agency, distribution, licencing and partnership agreements, international marketing and sales, websites, ecommerce and social media, visiting the market, exhibitions and trade shows


Day two

International finance, contracts and logistics - new exporter’s checklist, budgeting and costing, export pricing, incoterms, vat, customs duties, tariffs, getting paid and currency, contracts and international terms and conditions, logistics and transportation

Preparing an export action plan - all attendees will get one-to-one support to prepare an export action plan to help them to achieve their objectives and understand how ir fits into their overall strategy for export
