FREE CPD Opportunity for talented teachers in your school

Lead practitioner group

Many schools will have highly skilled and inspirational teachers who have a great deal to offer and share and may be wishing to develop their roles in supporting others in the future.  However, to apply to become a specialist leader of education (SLE) you need to be a senior leader in school and have had experience of supporting other schools beyond your own already which can inhibit those wishing to step up to the role.

This year for the first time, we are using some of our teaching school funding to support this leadership and development journey for a small number of fantastic teachers.  The lead practitioner group will be given the opportunity to shadow some work of the current SLEs and to learn about sharing their good practice and leading and supporting others in a different school, whilst developing their own leadership roles.

We are looking to recruit a small group of lead practitioners who will work together to develop their skills in supporting others this year, beginning in term 2. They will need to be outstanding teachers, excellent communicators and excellent English or maths teachers  - and be committed to developing professionally through supporting others.  English or maths subject leaders are particularly welcome to apply.  The time commitment will be 3 half days of central training, plus two twilights and two days of shadowing an SLE.

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow and develop Bristol teachers to enable them to support other schools and to equip them with the skills to step up and apply to be an SLE in the future.

There will be a short application process, coupled with a recommendation from their headteacher: expressions of interest are open now.  I will contact those registering an interest in the next few weeks with more information.
