Expressive Abstract Art: Painting & Mixed-Media Workshop
Overview
This workshop is all about freedom in expressive art. Rather than focusing on structured techniques or realistic outcomes, this session encourages you to let go of expectations, trust your intuition, and create from within.
Using painting and mixed media, we will explore colour, layering, and mark-making to express emotions and ideas. You’ll see how expressive painting can be both liberating and fulfilling, helping you connect with your own creative voice.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced maker, this session is designed to inspire play, experimentation, and personal expression.
What You’ll Do
- Begin with warm-up exercises to loosen up, find inspiration, and get into the flow
- Experiment with gestural marks and a variety of painting tools — brushes, palette knives, sponges, and more
- Explore different media for texture, layering, and expressive techniques
- Use colour intuitively to reflect mood, energy, and emotion
- Let your instincts guide your composition, movement, and creative choices
- Receive guidance from Ellie, who will demonstrate techniques and share tips on working with mixed media
By the end of the session, you will leave with a unique abstract piece and a newfound confidence to trust your intuition in your creative practice.
All materials will be provided and refreshments will be available
Come ready to explore, play, and create in a relaxed and welcoming environment!
