This 2.5-hour creative session is all about loosening up, embracing expressive brushwork, and reimagining florals in a fresh, abstract way.
Whether you're an experienced artist or just starting your creative journey, this workshop will help you break away from realism and discover the beauty of expressive floral painting.
Guided by artist Ellie, you’ll explore how to layer, build texture, and balance composition, color, and movement to create bold, dynamic floral pieces that reflect your own artistic intuition.
What You’ll Do
🎨 Experiment with different tools – Use brushes, rubber and metal palette knives to create expressive marks and shapes.
🌸 Play with layering & gestural strokes – Bring depth, movement, and energy to your piece.
🎭 Find your creative flow – Start with gentle sketches and exercises to loosen up before working on your final artwork.
🖌️ Learn new techniques – Ellie will demonstrate layering, mark-making, and texture-building techniques to help you bring expressive floral representation into your work.
🎨 Explore color combinations – Discover how different colors interact and enhance your composition.
What You’ll Create
You’ll leave the session with your very own expressive abstract floral artwork on stretched paper - a unique and personal piece to be proud of! If your painting needs a little extra drying time, we can safely store it at Kick Up The Arts for later collection.
No previous experience is needed—just a willingness to explore, play, and get creative!
All materials will be provided and refreshments will be available
Come along for an evening of fun, creativity, and artistic exploration.
