Is this for Wakefield parents only?

This session is free for anyone that pays council tax to Wakefield Council. If you are out of area, you are still able to attend but there will be a charge of £25 - which should be paid in cash on the first session.

How far along in my pregnancy do I need to be?

We usually suggest starting at around 30 weeks of pregnancy. But it is completely up to you when you would like to start preparing!

Can my partner/supporter come?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! We encourage partners or supporters to attend! One ticket covers you and a supporter.

Question 4

How many tickets do I need to book?

Accepted Answer

One ticket covers you and your birth partner or supporter. That could be your partner, your spouse, your mum, your best friend - whoever you want by your side on your birth journey! Please only reserve one ticket per pair, so that we can leave spaces open for other parents.

What kinds of things are covered?

We cover skin to skin, golden hour, the first day with your baby, feeding cues, frequency of feeds, cluster feeding, different breastfeeding positions, signs of effective feeding...  and much more! There also will be time for you to raise your own questions so that you can leave feeling prepared.

Question 6

Is it just about breastfeeding?

This 2-hour session covers the key points you will need to initiate breastfeeding well. You don't need to have made any decisions on how you want to feed your baby to attend the course. We supply evidence based information, and you make your own decisions on feeding from there!

What if I want to know about more than just breastfeeding?
