Event description

Description

You will design and fabricate a piece of flat pack furniture using an open-source customisable template. You will be guided through the application of 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM). You will take home a scaled maquette from sheet acrylic, and a full-scaled machined birch plywood production model of your customised design.

The aim of this course is to provide an introductory grounding in the use of CNC machinery, through the application of 2D CAD. The course will place emphasis on how design by good working practice is achieved through understanding the logistics of machines, materials, tooling and post-machining processes. Through design and maquette making, participants will explore ideal fixtures and fabrication through top-down design & troubleshooting. It will provide essential inductions into working safely within the Fab Lab and 3D Workshop environments.
