Event description
Firm friends? Building a strong EU/UK partnership. Join the Fabian Society and FES for this fringe event at Labour Party conference 2019.

About this Event

Assuming the United Kingdom leaves the European Union, it will begin to chart a new course, and will need to reset its relationship with Europe and the wider world. At a time of distinct political turmoil, it is paramount that a strong relationship is maintained between the UK and the EU, delivering real and lasting benefits for both sides which supports shared prosperity and security.

Given the importance of a close relationship, and the fact that many of the challenges facing those in Europe and the UK are remarkably similar– a rapidly changing economy, responding to climate change, immigration, and cultural tensions – how do we ensure the safety and prosperity of future generations and build a strong and meaningful relationship between the UK and the EU?

Confirmed speakers include:

Anneliese Dodds MP (shadow treasury minister and former MEP)

Metin Hakverdi (member of German parliament, SPD)

Eloise Todd (activist and political strategist)

Ivana Bartoletti (chair, Fabian Society)

This event is free to attend.
