Fabric Manipulation and Textile Embellishment
Overview
The Fabric Manipulation and Textile Embellishment workshop provides students with an in-depth exploration of various surface design techniques, including fabric manipulation, beading, embroidery, lace appliqué, ruching, smocking, and quilting.
The session begins with a discussion of various fabric types, emphasising fibre sources and construction techniques. You will then learn to add decorative elements that improve both the visual appeal and texture of your creations.
Throughout the class, students will engage in hands-on experimentation with a diverse array of embellishment techniques, utilising hand methods such as beading and embroidery.
This course is well-suited for beginners and individuals with some prior experience. It is also an excellent fit for textile artists, makers, and designers aiming to develop or elevate their portfolios with thoughtfully designed, embellished and embroidered textiles.
What will I achieve? By the end of the session, you will be able to produce fabric manipulation and embellishment samples using a variety of hand techniques.

Students are welcome to bring any particular materials and embellishments they would like to work with. Threads and scissors will be provided.
