Event description

Description

Join us for a fun beginners workshop on adding lights and electronics to your wearable items.

We’ll show you how to embellish your own custom fascinator headband, with colour-changing LEDs, and laser-cut fabric decorations. This workshop is the perfect opportunity to take your first steps in electronics, coding, and laser cutting, and suitable for anyone with an interest in fashion.

Our workshops are always fun and easy-going and this time we’ll be offering a glass of prosecco on arrival, and refreshments throughout, including hot and cold drinks and snacks. Not only will you leave the workshop with a fabulous light-up fascinator, but you’ll also have learned a bunch of new skills, so you can continue to work on your fascinator and other wearable projects when you get home!

This event is part of the Fabric District Festival, who are funding the cost of materials, enabling us to offer such a low price.

FAQs

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Please bring a laptop. If you can't then let us know beforehand and we'll try to arrange a spare computer for you.

Also, if there are any particular fabrics or other elements you want to incorporate into your fascinator, feel free to bring them with you. Translucent materials such as gauzes will work particularly well, as they can be used to diffuse the lights.

Can I park nearby?

There are a number of car parks within a 2 minute walk of DoES Liverpool, all around £3.50 for a whole day’s parking. See our Wiki page for details.

Alternatively, we’re a 10 minute walk, or 4 minute bike ride, from Lime Street Station, for those travelling by train.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No, anyone is welcome, although people with an interest in textiles will probably get the most from the event.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes! There’s level access into the Tapestry building, and then a lift up to DoES on the first floor. We have a large toilet suitable for wheelchairs, and the workshop is fully wheelchair accessible.

If you have any accessibility needs, drop us an email at the address below – we’re happy to help!

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Just email us at hello@doesliverpool.com.
