Face to Face Session - Naloxone & Synthetic Opioids Training
Overview
This training is exclusively designed for staff members working in the boroughs of Westminster, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Kensington & Chelsea. The session will run for six hours, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing an in-depth exploration of critical topics related to synthetic opioids, IV use and naloxone.
The training will be divided into three parts. The first segment will focus on synthetic opioids, where participants will engage in discussions about best practices and harm reduction strategies to ensure safety when dealing with these substances. This foundational knowledge is essential for staff to effectively support individuals who may be affected by synthetic opioids.
In the second part, attendees will learn about naloxone, including how to assemble the kit and administer it in the event of an opioid overdose.
The final segment will delve into the practices of individuals who use intravenous illicit substances, enhancing participants' understanding of the complexities involved. This comprehensive approach aims to equip staff with the necessary skills and insights to provide effective harm reduction advice to those working with intravenous drug users and particiapnts will learn how our clients assemble/cook up their drugs and we will learn about the parpahernailia involved in doing so. After this session particiapnts will be equipped with the knowldge needed to have discussion with clients and to offer them practical harm reduction advice to those who are injecting substanes
