BRITISH ACADEMY CONFERENCE

Faces of the Infinite: Neoplatonism and Poetics at the Confluence of Africa, Asia and Europe

The conference is intended to generate the first comparative overview of the extent to which Neoplatonist philosophy has permeated poetic forms, styles, themes and figurative language as well as poetic theory in seven principal languages of the greater Mediterranean region, from late antiquity to the modern period. Listed in alphabetical order, they are Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Persian, Spanish and Turkish. The findings are intended to result in a major publication which will shed light on the significance of Neoplatonism as a cross-cultural phenomenon which links the literary traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Registration fee
A registration fee is payable in advance at the time of booking: £95 for attending both days (9 & 10 November); £50 for attending one day (9 or 10 November).

There are reduced fees for the unwaged/retired and for undergraduate and postgraduate students: £36 for attending both days (9 & 10 November); £20 for attending one day (9 or 10 November).

Cancellation policy
Cancellations must be sent to events@britac.ac.uk by Monday, 30 October 2017. After this date the registration fee will not be refundable, however substitutions will be accepted.

Catering
Refreshments and lunch will be provided on both days. Vegetarian options will be provided for lunch. Please state on the registration form if you have any special dietary requirements; if you are registering after 30 October 2017, please email your dietary requirements to events@britac.ac.uk.
