A free event hosted by Professor Sally Hardy from the research group Inspiring Momentum for practice Action, Creativity and Transformation across communities and health and social care (ImpACT).

Seminar Title:

Facilitation: An integrated approach to learning, development and improvement in the workplace

Aim:

The Webinar will consider, through active participation and critical conversation, what is facilitation, how do you become a facilitator, and what are the skills required to develop effective facilitation.

Speakers:

Lead by Professor Sally Hardy and featuring Dr Famke van Lieshout from the University of Applied Sciences.

The ImpACT research group combines the expertise of international practice developers and implementation scientists from the UK, Europe and Australasia working in partnership with experts at UEA and will offer an integrated approach to quality improvement through collaborative research, practice development, innovation and workplace learning initiatives at a regional, national and international level. ImpACT was formed by Professor Sally Hardy, Dean of Health Sciences at UEA and Professor of Mental Health and Practice Innovation and is led by ImpACT Director Associate Professor Carolyn Jackson.

Carolyn is joined by Co-Directors Professor Kim Manley CBE and Professor Jonathan Webster. All bring a well-established track record of working across the UK and internationally with health and social care communities to enhance and support service and system wide transformation. Their priority has been to undertake a stakeholder consultation to identify the key priorities for the region for an integrated approach to research, practice development, innovation and workforce development involving all professions.

The new ImpACT research group are part of UEA Health and Social Care Partners (UEAHSCP), a research partnership hosted by UEA whose main function is to increase collaborative research and innovation between health and social care organisations in Norfolk, Suffolk and North East Essex. Speakers' bios:

Sally Hardy, Dean School of Health Sciences

Sally joined the University of East Anglia in September 2019 as Professor of Mental Health and Practice Innovation and Dean of School of Health Sciences. She has extensive experience working across both health services and higher education, and is leading the UEAHSCP's burgeoning Quality Improvement and Evaluation Research Group. Throughout her academic career, Sally has remained closely linked with the NHS, promoting practitioner-led inquiry and transformational change through evidence-based health care. Sally's research focuses on understanding what contributes to a sustainable workplace culture that promotes practice expertise; achieved through the use of a facilitated transformational approach to systems-wide inclusive innovation.

Famke van Lieshout Fontys, University of Applied Sciences

Famke is an action research facilitator, owns the Action Research Company in the Netherlands and is a certified PAR trainer at 7Senses. She is an associate professor at Fontys University of Applied Sciences. In 2013 she finished her doctorate at the University of Ulster (UK). Her study focused on systems of support in facilitating action research. She is passionate about the use of arts, creativity and storytelling in research and practice development. She is first author of the book Action Research, principles for change in health and social care (2017, in Dutch).
