To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Edge Hill University’s Public Relations degree, this event, organised by the University and CIPR NW, will give insights into the future of public relations and the future of the media from two leading practitioners in their fields.
President of the CIPR, Sarah Pinch, will be joined by Editor in Chief of Trinity Mirror on Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales, Alastair Machray. They will focus on what PR practitioners, students and others need to know when thinking about practice in future years.
Sarah Pinch, FCIPR, MIoD is the President of the CIPR for 2015 and is an experienced corporate communications and marketing expert. She began her career as a journalist for the BBC, leaving after 11 years to work in public relations. In 2011 she won the inaugural Institute of Directors and Chartered Institute of Public Relations “PR Director of the Year” award. She is Managing Director of Pinch Point Communications and a non-executive director of the Health and Safety Executive.
Alastair Machray is currently editor of the Liverpool Echo and Editor in Chief of Trinity Mirror Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales. He has overall responsibility for editorial across all daily and weekly newspapers and companion websites. Alastair has worked for the Sunderland Echo, the Newcastle Journal, The Newcastle Evening Chronicle and TODAY newspaper. He has been editor of The Daily Post and became editor of the Liverpool Echo in 2005. He has now completed 20 years as a daily newspaper editor.
This is a free event, which will include refreshments and time for networking. Registration will start at 6.00 pm, with the seminar beginning at 6.30 pm.
