Faculty Clinic: Daniel Burke and Des O'Connell
Wed 11 October 2017, 12:00 – 14:00 BST
MEYLER CAMPBELL ALUMNI ONLY.
“The quality of everything we do depends on the quality of the thinking we do first.”
Many of you will be familiar with Nancy Kline’s Thinking Environment framework, having read her often mind-shifting book, Time to Think. Faculty members Daniel Burke and Des O’Connell will discuss the power of this approach. Drawing on both experiential evidence and recent neuroscientific findings, they will explore some of the core precepts behind the framework and explain how and why it works.
As Des puts it, the Time to Think framework is about ‘how resourceful and amazing people are when they are left to think for themselves’. So how can you give people the time and attention they need to release their freshest, most creative thinking? Is it more than just sitting there in silence, nodding? Is it something clients will pay for? This interactive Clinic will address these questions and more. If you’re keen to deepen your understanding of the Time to Think model, sign up to this event now!
A jazz-playing former mathematician, accountant and management consultant, Daniel Burke left his role as senior Partner at KPMG to retrain as a psychologist. He is now a leading business coach, co-Founder of The Alliance and one of the first Meyler Campbell Faculty Members. See his full bio here.
Des O’Connell was originally a solicitor and spent nearly 20 years with City law firm Biddle, latterly as Managing Partner. For nearly 15 years he has been a coach, facilitator and consultant with Sherwood PSF Consulting, where he is in his element working with like-minded people. See his full bio here.
Both Daniel and Des are fully trained in the Nancy Kline Time to Think approach, and both feel privileged to spend four days a year working with Nancy in person, to further develop their skills in this methodology.
