Faculty of Business HotSeat
Up for a challenge? Try Plymouth University's Faculty of Business HotSeat!
Is this competition for me?
HotSeat is our famous interview competition, giving you the opportunity to practise your interview technique with experienced interviewers and gain detailed feedback.
This fun competition is for anyone within the Faculty of Business and is designed to help students from all stages and disciplines. You will develop; effective communication (through the development of professional cover letters, CVs, and interview skills), and networking skills along with increased self-awareness and confidence. All great for your CV!
How does HotSeat work?
You will submit an application tailored to the HotSeat job description, which can be found here. If you are shortlisted you will be given a choice of 45 minute slots with our Careers Advisors where you'll interview and then receive feedback. You will be scored on the content of your answers, how you evidence them and your communication skills - we have a range of workshops to help you with this. After all entrants have been interviewed we will notify you by email if you have been successful in winning a prize and if you'll be going through to the HotSeat Final in March.
As an extra bonus we will be running a workshop for entrants to the Faculty of Business HotSeat. This will give you training before the event to ensure you are confident and skilled in listening and communicating, body language and telling your story. This will give you a real taste of what you could expect from an interview situation and allows you to practise core competency and skills-based questions. It is a great chance to make those common mistakes before the competition and receive hints and top tips.
The winners of this competition will win cash prizes; £100 first place, £75 for second place, £50 for third place! The top three shortlisted will also go through to our HotSeat final on Wednesday 15th March 2017 with the chance to win further cash prizes.
