Description

The theme of this year's Faculty of Health & Social Care's Research Conference, at the University of Chester, is Future Health: Changing Approaches to Health & Social Care.

The Conference will focus on some of the key challenges for the future of health and social care provision and explore how traditional approaches to higher education provision will need to adapt in order to meet need in these complex areas of work and service delivery.

There will be a range of keynote speakers, student and staff presentations, workshops, debates, and performances. Topics will include:

  • Digital Health and the use of Virtual Reality

  • Workforce Planning

  • Health Humanities

Tuesday 18th June - Day 1

Morning

  • Professor Nigel W. John - Senior Research Professor, Dept. of Computer Science, University of Chester

Afternoon

  • Hilary Garrett - Director of Nursing in NHS England and Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for England

  • Catherine Randall - Deputy Head of Safeguarding, Nursing Directorate - Nursing and Midwifery Team, NHS England


Wednesday 19th June - Day 2

Morning

  • Professor Martin Vernon - Consultant Geriatrician, National Clinical Director for Older People and Person Centred Integrated Care, NHS England & Chair of the NHS England Hospital to Home Programme Board, Associate Professor, Salford University, Visiting Professor University of Chester

Afternoon

  • Dr. Kat Taylor - Senior Clinical Psychologist, NHS Children’s Services (CAMHS) and Programme Manager, Manchester Foundation Trust and the GMiTHRIVE Programme Team.


The purpose of the Conference is to reflect on how we can challenge 'the more traditional and established approaches' to health and social care education and encourage the integration of digital health, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, population demographics, and health humanities, to enhance the curricular offering and student experience. Our keynote presentations, and workshops (bookable on the day), will reflect the conference aims.

We are delighted to announce that the Conference will close on Day 2 with a performance by The Cheshire Fire Choir followed by tea and cake!.

Please note that lunch is not provided, so delegates are advised to bring lunch or make use of the on-site catering facilities.

Performance, Debate & Dinner
