About this event

Fadia’s Tree is an Award winning feature documentary which reinterprets the concept of exile and the right to return ‘home’. It weaves together the homing instinct of migratory birds as they travel through the eastern Mediterranean with an intimate portrait of Fadia, born into a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon.

All proceeds from this fundraising evening will be split between Medicine Aid Palestine and Gaza Formula Fund. Fadia's Tree is directed by Sarah Beddington and is based on a chance encounter over fifteen years ago which introduced Sarah to Fadia and her family. Sarah will be present for the screening and there will be a Q&A with her afterwards.

Fadia and Sarah's friendship has drawn Sarah to the area many times. Forbidden access to historic Palestine, Fadia challenges Sarah to travel there on her behalf and find an ancient mulberry tree. A tree that once grew next to her grandfather’s house and which stands as witness to her family’s existence and their enforced exile in 1948 – a lost family member she hopes will be waiting for her in a better future.
