Event description
Opportunity to collaborate with international artist Raquel Meseguer on 'A Mini Crash Course in Cloudspotting' (limited to 15 spaces)

About this Event

What? Join Raquel on 1 October for a bespoke workshop to design a new and bespoke Resting Space for the FRONTLINE Arts Festival.

You will be collaborating with Raquel to convert a disused retail unit on the ground floor of the Intu Potteries Shopping Centre (Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent) into a Resting Space and interactive art installation. You will be creating a space to lie down, rest, tell and hear stories.

Why? Raquel's project questions how public spaces are used, inspired by her experience of chronic back pain and the need to lie down (a lot).

This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with an international artist and explore accessibility & invisible disability in the arts. The idea has been taken from her lager scale work 'A Crash Course in Cloudspotting' which was presented at the Southbank Centre, Unlimited Festival 2018 and the National Centre for the Arts (CENART), Mexico.

The installation will launch with a performance by Raquel on 2nd Oct at 3pm, and then will remain open to the public throughout October for the public to use as a resting place, to view as an arts installation, and as HQ for the FRONTLINE Arts Festival.

All materials for the workshop will be provided.

Find out more about Raquel's work here.

FRONTLINE Arts Festival runs from 1st October to 1st November and features an inclusive programme of professional, high-quality artistic work created by, and for, disabled people, alongside fully inclusive workshops, talks & activities to engage and inspire the next generation of new & emerging disabled artists.

All of our events are 'Pay What You Decide' and will have suggested prices at each event.
