Event description
FRONTLINE Arts Festival presents: STOPGAP - 'Artificial Things' & A Chris Pavia & Carousel Production of 'The Journey Between'

About this Event

7.30pm = Artificial Things: Live Quartet + Film

StopGap Dance perform a live quartet of of Artificial Things - a compulsory study for GCSE Dance . The live performance is followed by a re-imagined and condensed 25 min film of the previous full length work which has been especially commissioned to be remounted for European Capital of Culture programme:

"Slowly suffocating in each other’s company, a group of individuals seek escape in a bash of riotous rock-n-roll. However, their wild disorder descends into playground politics and reveals some uncomfortable truths. In this cinematic and evocative production Stopgap Dance Company creates a compact world of riddles that question our notions about unity and co-existence".

8pm = Interval

8.15pm = The Journey Between, by Chris Pavia

The Journey Between is an exhilarating exploration of how humanity connects and disconnects, long signified in mythology surrounding the movement of stars and planets. Two cosmic entities, embodied by dancers Nadenh Poan and Christian Brinklow, search for each other through space. This high-energy performance is choreographed by internationally renowned dance artist Chris Pavia, and complemented by immersive digital projection created by learning disabled artists from Carousel. The result is a visually stunning work.

‘What an amazing piece of dance! It was fast paced and virtuoso in moments, but also slow and considered at others. The digital projection was mesmerising, complementing the performance nicely.’ - Audience member

The Production is supported by Stopgap Dance Company and Carousel, and is funded by Arts Council England and Commissioned and supported by Unlimited, celebrating the work of disabled artists, with funding from Spirit of 2012.

8.30pm = Post Show Talk with Artificial Things team
