Collar and Cuffs present a multi-sensory inclusive performance of Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'

About this Event

Event Update

Unfortunaetly the performance by Collar and Cuffs is having to be cancelled due to unforseen circumstances.

We will however still be offering Makaton and BSL sessions and Rachael Lines of FRONTLINEdance will be providing a movement workshop suitable for all.

What?

“Be not afeard. The isle is full of noises, sounds, and sweet airs that give delight and hurt not.”

Join a musical sensory telling of ‘The Tempest’ fully inclusive for those with special needs, with multi award-winning Collar & Cuffs Co.

Expect a twangling, painty, touchy, feely, smelly, and magical adventure delivered with Collar & Cuffs signature warmth. This is a signed and relaxed performance.

'Be Not Afeard' is a performance suited and tailored towards those with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and their caregivers.

This performance is a repeat of the earlier 10am performance of 'Be Not Afeared'. To allow as many people as possible to enjoy the performance, please only book tickets to one performance by Collar & Cuffs.

Why?

How do we help children grow the skills to be confidently curious about their world at a time when anxiety and overwhelm affect so many? How do we help them become better able to cope with the unexpected?

Explore this challenge with a sensory musical version of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ suitable for 0-7s and fully inclusive for special and/or complex needs.

This performance is immersive, providing a range of sensory experiences for children and their grown-ups to interact with to help co-create the story.

Each experience offers a safe and supported challenge to gently encourage children to explore unfamiliar and unexpected textures, smells, sounds and movements, and to feel less 'afeard' as they do so.

FRONTLINE Arts Festival runs from 1st October to 1st November and features an inclusive programme of professional, high-quality artistic work created by, and for, disabled people, alongside fully inclusive workshops, talks & activities to engage and inspire the next generation of new & emerging disabled artists.

All of our events are 'Pay What You Decide' and will have suggested prices at each event.
