Event description
Centre for London invites you to the launch of our latest publication, Fair access

About this Event

Despite being a wealthy city with a world-renowned transport network, many Londoners still face significant barriers to accessing London’s transport network and the opportunities it offers.

Many Londoners live in areas under-served by public transport, while others are unable to access the transport options available because of high costs or lack of step-free access or other non-physical barriers.

Centre for London’s new report, Fair access: towards a fairer transport system for everyone, explores how equitable London transport is and how it hurts underprivileged Londoners, including those that are on low incomes, disabled, elderly or from ethnic minorities.

Join us at the launch, where Centre for London will present the findings and we will hear from a panel of experts about how London transport could become more inclusive, affordable and accessible, exploring questions including:

  • How do the transport needs of different groups of Londoners vary?
  • How can we better address these different needs? What is the role of technology in it?
  • How can we ensure that equity is at the centre of making transport investment decision?
  • What can the Mayor do to make transport more affordable? Do we need to review the zonal structure or concessions?
