Fairness Commission Roundtable
Tuesday 11th October 2016 from 10am to 12.30pm at Chamberlain Room, Birmingham Council House, Victoria square, Birmingham, B1 1BB
Dear Fairness Commission, July 2016
You will be aware of Edge Hill Universities ongoing research with Fairness Commissions. In 2014 we produced a report into the role of Fairness Commissions entitled ‘Agency in Austerity. Since then the number of Fairness Commissions has grown across the UK. NEF produced a report in 2015 considering the work of Fairness Commissions and we at Edge Hill have conducted 15 interviews with Fairness Commissions in the Autumn of 2015. This research is part of a larger research project, funded by the Webb Memorial Trust considering concepts of a Good Society. To find out more about our research please visit www.edgehill.ac.uk/I4P
As part of this ongoing research we held an event in the House of Commons in June 2016, inviting Fairness Commissions to share best practice and to consider their role in reducing poverty and inequality. The session was very well received. The session identified the diversity of approaches that Commissions had taken to Fairness and the value of sharing best practice, approaches and ideas. As a result of such an enthusiastic response we have organised a Fairness Commission Roundtable in Birmingham.
This Fairness Commission Roundtable will be an opportunity to hear how different Fairness Commissions have prioritised their approaches and an opportunity for discussion, listening and reflection on the work of Fairness Commissions going forward. The session is free but please do book using this eventbrite link.
