Event Details

Room 7138, Stoddart Building, Arundel Gate, City Campus, Sheffield Hallam University

Following a recent meeting with Steve Wagstaff, Jenny Cavalot and David Wren to discuss a FairShares Association data model, supporters of the FairShares Association identified a need for founders and supporters to meet each other and contribute to further discussions on firming up the identity and aspirations of the association.

This notice confirms the venue, time and date of the inaugural meeting of founders and supporters to further identify the goals of the association and develop working groups.  Voluntary contributions to cover the cost of refreshments can be made on the night, or in advance on the FairShares Association website at http://www.fairshares-association.com/support.html.

BACKGROUND TO STEVE WAGSTAFF'S DATA MODEL

Steve Wagstaff worked for 30 years in various ICT roles as a systems analyst and developer.  He has particular expertise at facilitating the discussions that underpin the development of information systems, is an area Committee member of the Co-operative Group, a board member of Co-operatives Yorkshire & Humber, and a founder of a new charity that will invest in co-operative development in South America.

The FairShares Data Model was developed after a close reading of the FairShares Model - Introduction document written by Rory Ridley-Duff with input from Cliff Southcombe and Nicola Dickins and a wide range of sympathic consultants and educators.  The data model captures the brand values and principles advanced when the association was forming.  Discussing the model further will generate conversations that go to the heart of how the FairShares Association will develop in the future.

By developing this project, the FairShares Association will be in a position to develop information systems for members, catalogue FairShares enterprise development, and ensure that ICT systems are based on the values and principles to which members are committed.  It could, potentially, form the basis of fundraising activity to help FairShares enterprises reduce startup and/or conversion costs through the development of an Open Source / Creative Commons Licenced ICT system.

We looking forward to meeting you.
