People of faith have a unique contribution to offer in the pursuit of climate justice.

About this event

All faith communities emphasise a deep interconnectedness between nature and the divine, and the importance of compassion for the Earth and all those who live on it.

The session will feature:

Rosh Lal (host), Movement Builder at Faith for the Climate

Rosh Lal is an activist passionate about building coalitions to achieve climate justice. He holds an MA in International Relations, and has years of experience volunteering with asylum seekers and refugees in his hometown in Sheffield. He founded South Yorkshire’s first community resettlement group in 2020. In his climate activism he has volunteered with Green New Deal UK, Extinction Rebellion and Friends of the Earth. He is particularly enthusiastic about culture and music inspiring social change. He joined Faith for the Climate as a Movement Builder in January 2021.

Dr. Shanon Shah, Director at Faith for the Climate

Shanon balanced careers in human rights advocacy, journalism, and theatre and music in his native Malaysia before relocating to London in 2010. He holds a doctorate in the sociology of religion from King’s College London and is a Fellow of the London-based Muslim Institute, contributing regularly to its flagship quarterly publication, Critical Muslim. He also conducts research for the Information Network Focus on Religious Movements (INFORM), an independent educational charity based at King’s College London, and is Tutor in Interfaith Relations at the University of London Worldwide. Shanon became Interim Network Coordinator of Faith for the Climate in March 2020 and was appointed Director in January 2021.

Jasmine is a recent graduate with a passion for environment and climate change policy, both at home and internationally. Now working in policy, she is committed to combining policy and grassroots environmental action.
