Event description

Counsellors and psychotherapists who live with their own faith in the spiritual dimension, find it informs who they are and how they practice. Whether this influence is prominent or subtle, it is often significant and considered invaluable.

We wanted to create an opportunity to connect with others who find their faith informs their practice, and to reflect on the range of ways this is experienced. Acknowledging where this is treasured and found to be enriching, as well as, honestly considering, the challenges and conflicts it can also generate.

Who is this workshop aimed at?

This is for practitioners who are personally embedded in a faith community (whether they practice within this environment or not) to explore how this faith shapes the way they work, share an appreciation of how it nourishes them, and identify any areas where it also presents challenges to their practice.

It is for practitioners who once lived rooted in a faith tradition and for any number of reasons now find themselves no longer part of that community. There will be opportunity to reflect on the impact of this change, lament any loss and to share experiences with fellow practitioners who have found it important to find new ways to nurture any surviving faith in a new context.

It is for practitioners who find faith refreshes their way of being and energises their practice, and who wish to connect with others who can relate to this experience, exchanging stories of ways practitioners may nourish their faith and sustain it and discuss why this matters.

Lastly, this is for practitioners who may not describe themselves as personally having a faith in the spiritual dimension, but are curious to explore the issue alongside those who do, gaining fresh insights into why faith is so deeply appreciated by some colleagues, and also by some clients.

Come to reflect on the significance of a spiritual faith.

Come to connect with other practitioners who appreciate the ways faith enriches their practice and to acknowledge the challenges and conflicts it presents too.

Come practitioners of all faiths, and none.
