Description

Churches Together in Tunbridge Wells invite you to: Faith, Hope and Action in a Changing Climate

We are joined by:

  • Rt Hon Greg Clark MP for Tunbridge Wells and Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

  • Dr Ruth Valerio, environmentalist and theologian, and Global Advocacy and Influencing Director at Tearfund.

Join us for this unique opportunity to ask what Government is doing at local, national and international level to tackle climate change and to find out what we as Christians and local Churches can do to help.

6.30pm for refreshments and access to information stands, for a 7pm start and 8.30pm close.

We will be joined on the night by the following organisations:

A Rocha is a Christian conservation charity that set up Eco Church, an environmental audit and award scheme for Churches. With 1100 Churches already signed up around the UK, you will have the option find out more and to register your Church on the night.

Christian Aid work with local partners and communities to fight global injustice, respond to humanitarian emergencies, campaign for change and help support people to claim their rights.

Green Christian helps their members to understand, relate and realise their responsbility to care for God's creation through their faith. They provide prayer guides and resources to support Christians from all backgrounds and traditions with insights about ecology and environmental issues.

Hope for the Future are a Sheffield-based climate change charity supporting constituents to meet their MP and discuss climate change by finding the common ground. Alongside other campaigners in the UK, HFTF are working to find ways of communicating the climate crisis more effectively to politicians.

Operation Noah is a Christian response to the climate change crisis. They work across all denominations, including in their Bright Now campaign enabling Churches to consider and pray for fossil fuel divestment.

The Renewable Energy Association promotes clean technology and the contribution of renewable energy to the UK’s energy needs, and provides practical advice to individuals and organisations on how to reduce the carbon impact of their energy use.

Tearfund works to support communities around the world to overcome the effects of poverty and disasters, and encourages Christians in the UK to pray and act on climate change, including by changing our lifestyles.

Join us from 6.30pm to visit these information stands, talk the organisations and learn more!

We would like to ensure all our Churches and people right across our area, young and old, have a chance to put a question to Greg Clark MP and/or to Dr Ruth Valerio.

For this reason, when you register, please could you let us know your Church (if applicable), your age bracket, and a question you'd like to ask, and we will ensure as many and as wide a range of questions as possible get selected on the night.

Parking is available at Meadow Road or Royal Victoria Place car parks, both just ten minutes walk from the Church. Further information on parking is here: http://www.urctunbridgewells.co.uk/location.html

To find out more about the evening, or to arrange for disabled parking, please contact Rev. Helen Warmington at: revhelenurc@aol.co.uk or on 01892 671141
