Event description

Description

Following a very successful gathering of faith leaders on 4th February 2017 at a conference to mark International Day of Zero Tolerance to FGM at the City Chambers in Edinburgh, and the follow-up workshop on the 25th of March 2017, it was noted that some people wrongly assume that FGM is a requirement of religion or faith. It was also noted that in countries where Christian and Muslim faith leaders have spoken openly against FGM the prevalence rate has fallen remarkably. It was therefore decided that faith leaders in Scotland who are opposed to FGM would make a public declaration against the practice.

KWISA invites all faith leaders in Scotland to make a stand with us against FGM by attending and signing the declaration.

The event will be witnessed by:

Politicians, Policy makers, service providers, African organisations in Scotland, Voluntary organisations, Community leaders, Young people, men and women.

The event will take place as follows:

Date: 26th August 2017

44 Ashley Street, Glasgow, G3 6DS.

Time: 12:00 – 14:00 PM
