This introductory training module was developed to provide a Faith community with a basic overview of the public health approach to violence. This would be beneficial to any one with a Faith background, looking to upskill leaders in their communities.
Faith is often a place where people feel at peace, this highlights an opportunity for faith communities to positively engage their community in promoting key messages. Faith leaders are often identified as trusted member of the community, placing themselves in an influential position.
The role of the West Midlands Faith Alliance is to support faith communities across the West Midlands, by helping them understand and embrace the role they can play in reducing violence. As an organisation, we support faith leaders and communities, by empowering faith leaders to effectively assist and guide communities during critical incidents whilst also increasing the ability of faith leaders to respond to future crisis.
We are committed to helping you navigate these challenging situations ensuring you have access to all the support available to you with the right resources, care and collaboration. Working in partnership with us and other statutory organisations, as a place of worship your faith community can benefit from your participation by:
· Helping to prevent and reduce violence in your community;
· Providing a safe space for your community;
· Supporting healing following an incident in your community; and
· Strengthening the support available to your community.
Our commitment includes providing a holistic package of free support to your place of worship that includes:
· Solidarity community resilience support;
· A multi-agency approach that incorporates several statutory partners;
· Interventions such as conflict management, prevention and reconciliation;
· Providing access to a range of resources including assets, toolkits, training and specialist trained professionals;
· Bespoke training for you, families and your community; and
· Additional ongoing support.

This approach enables a more resilient community whilst also empowering the community to understand the role they can play in violence reduction.
