About this Event
‘Faithfully Queer’ – The race for equality for LGBT+ people of faith? In collaboration with the Faculty of Social Science, Counselling Skills BA (Combined Hons)
About the event: Huge strides in equality have been made for LGBT+ people in UK society in recent decades, but the situation for many queer people of faith often seems far behind.
We are delighted to welcome Canon Rachel Mann, Church of England priest, writer and broadcaster. Author of 11 books, her memoir of growing up trans, ‘Dazzling Darkness’, recently received a Second Edition. She regularly broadcasts on BBC Radio 4 and Radio 2.
Who the event is aimed at: This event is taking place as part of the Counselling Skills Combined Hons programme but is opened up to any member of staff, students from other programmes or visitors to attend.
What you will gain from attending: Rachel Mann’s talk offers an opportunity to reflect on how things might yet need to change for the lives of LGBT+ people to be celebrated in communities of faith.
