During this talk, Revital Cohen and Tuur Van Balen will discuss their recent work looking into the role of industrial desires in the construction of culture, geologies and biology. They will explore the ways in which mass production has shaped the history and present of DR Congo, the impact of distance on value and fantasy and the cultivation of scarcity.
Revital Cohen and Tuur Van Balen are London-based artists working across physical objects, installation and film. Their practice explores forms of production as cultural, social and political practices, following geopolitical, geological and biological strains within the manufactured landscape to question their becoming.
