On 13th October 1905, Christabel Pankhurst and Annie Kenney were arrested for disrupting a Liberal Party meeting at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, leading to their imprisonment in Strangeways Prison. But what really happened that day in October 1905?

Join us on the 120th anniversary of the first militant action of the suffragette campaign to learn the truth from the fiction. Have a look around 62 Nelson Street, the house from which Christabel and Annie set off on that fateful day, and then enjoy a journey through the news coverage, myths and opinions that circulated at the time at our evening talk.

Doors open at 6pm for museum tours, with the talk starting at 6.30pm.
