On the 14th October 2016 the Paul Popham Fund, Renal Support Wales will be holding it’s first Fall Ball to raise much needed funds for Kidney Patients in South Wales lead a better quality of life.
This gala evening will be the first to celebrate the end of this years fundraising challenges that so many people have taken part in to raise awareness of the charity. Teams of people have run the Swansea Half Marathon, cycled 450 miles from Paris to Amsterdam, climbed the national three peaks and the final challenge for 2016 will be the Cardiff Half Marathon. We will be celebrating the end of one years challenges and looking forward to the challenges set for 2017.
For your information the Paul Popham Fund, Renal Support Wales was set-up in memory of Paul Popham who survived over half his life as a kidney dialysis, transplant and cancer patient. Despite this Paul led a positive life and instilled in others to believe in themselves. The charity has been set-up as a legacy to Paul and to support patients like him to believe in themselves and lead a better quality of life, as he did. The charity aims to support kidney patients in South Wales by providing services to help them through their journey of discovery to acceptance. The charity helps the patient, children and adults and their families learn to live with the diagnosis. We rely heavily on support from the local community through various fundraising initiatives, all funds raised go towards various projects that put the patient first such as our Befriending Service that provides guidance, advice, support and information, Family Days out, applications for welfare support, facilities and equipment that can contribute and assist the patients’ treatment. We raise awareness and campaign for better treatment and services. At the moment we are working specifically with the Children’s Kidney Unit, University Hospital Wales, Cardiff; Morriston Hospital Renal Unit; the Welsh Kidney patients Association and the National Kidney Federation. Without the support from individuals like this family we would not be able to carry out our work.
This Fall Ball has the hint of a fun and interesting evening with two local well known celebrities and acts supporting it - Kevin John’s hosting and Joe Schmoo entertaining us to be held at The Village Hotel, Swansea. Tickets are £30 per person and include a delightful three course meal with champagne on arrival.
