Event description

Description

Falls and fractures are a common and serious health issue faced by people aged 65 and above. Falls are not an inevitable part of ageing though, there are plenty of steps that can be taken to prevent them. Falls Friends is a programme developed in Hampshire to raise awareness of how to prevent falls.

Falls Friends Champions deliver talks to help people understand how to prevent falls, including areas such as vision, environmental hazards, hydration and exercise. The talks, which last an hour, can be delivered to friends, family, community groups, workplace etc.

On the 4th October 2019 Hampshire County Council's Falls Prevention Coordinator is delivering training to people wishing to become Falls Friends Champions. The training is fully funded, and resources are provided.

We welcome people who live or work in Hampshire to attend the training, become Champions and give talks in the local community. We are keen to encourage people aged 65+ to attend the training and deliver talks to their peers.
