False Intimacy 2014 - Pastoral Care of the Sexually Addicted

False Intimacy is a one-day conference run by Living Waters addressing the pastoral issues faced by ministers and church leaders when helping those struggling with sexual purity, pornography use and sex addiction both within and outside the church. A recent survey by CARE found that 97% of church leaders believe online pornography to be a serious issue within the church, but many are at a loss as to how to provide effective support in this area.
What is Covered:
During the day we will look at the following topics, there will also be time for Q&A sessions:
- The diminishing returns of sexual impurity (interpersonal and virtual)
- The addictive nature of pornography use and sexual impurity
- The roots of sexually addictive behaviour and our wounded hearts
- How to support those struggling in these areas
- How to support the spouses and families of those acting out sexually
Registration: Doors open from 9:15 for registration. The first session begins at 9:45

Dr Lisa Guinness is the Director of Living Waters,
with which she has been involved for 20 years.
Lisa has a medical background in psychiatry and
child development. She is married to Christopher,
a retired hospital chaplain and has three grown
up children.

Peter Watts works part time for Living Waters
and has been involved with the ministry for
several years, first as a programme delegate
and then teaching as part of the ministry team.
He has a scientific background and currently
focuses on men’s ministry and addiction issues.
