FAME 4 STEM (Virtual Conference)
Event Information
About this Event
*Please only sign-up if you can make all of the events not listed as optional*
This series of events is aimed at young women from ethnic minority backgrounds who are thinking about a career in STEM. All events will be led by STEM education and employment experts. The Cultural Ecology Project (CEP) aims to raise aspiration within technology and innovation, increase community engagement, and help create an infrastructure that supports and empowers women and girls from ethnic minority backgrounds through social enterprise. This project was founded as a direct response to the lack of FAME representation in the STEM sector as experienced by current sector practitioners.

The key organisers of this project have first hand experience of the barriers and challenges of discrimination when pursuing a STEM career. The diverse team encompasses practitioners of different age and ethnic demographic, with experience including tech recruitment, software engineering, STEM education/training, marketing, network building and events management. This breadth of knowledge will ensure that participants’ specific and diverse needs are taken into consideration when programming the event. We have a positive relationship with existing STEM and Culture organisations, networks and advocates in the city, whom we can engage and activate for participant recruitment. We have a proven history of creating robust and stimulating marketing strategy which we will also be using for this project.
