Event description

Description

All the world’s a stage, and nowhere more so than at FameLab Oxford!

Join our judges, including the amazing science broadcaster and astrophysicist Chris Lintott and eminent science writer Georgina Ferry, as FameLab Oxford 2018 brings together the brave and the bold, the hilarious and the awe-inspiring – scientists so enthusiastic they just don’t know when to stop! But stop they must, as each contestant in this sci-talent contest has just three minutes on the FameLab stage to charm you and our judges with a performance about their favourite bit of science.

Famelab is an international competition to find the new voices of science and engineering. Each contestant must explain a concept on science, mathematics or engineering without the use of notes or Powerpoint. Oxford competitors have a great record of making it to the UK final (and doing really well) and in 2016 our heats generated both the eventual winner Kyle Evans and the runner-up Jase Taylor. Science Oxford runs the heats and coordinates all the entrants.

Suitable for ages 16+

Free (booking recommended)

And if you love the sound of the heats, book now for the regional final, which will take place at The Bullingdon, Cowley Road on Wednesday 7th March 2018.
