FameLab, the international science communication competition, is back for 2017. The University of Sheffield is hosting the Yorkshire heat - come and watch the region's scientists compete in a battle to inform, inspire and entertain! We are delighted to announce that Simon Watt - writer, science-communicator and TV presenter - will be compering this year's event.
FameLab is a communications competition designed to engage and entertain by breaking down science, technology and engineering concepts into three minute presentations. Contestants from around the world take part armed only with their wits and a few props - the result is an unpredictable, enlightening and exciting way to encourage your curiosity and find out about the latest research.
We have three fantastic judges who will be deciding which participants go on to the Manchester regional final:
Professor Simon Foster - Director of the Krebs Institute at the University of Sheffield and lead academic on the 2015 Krebs Festival which saw the giant inflatable E. coli take to Sheffield's Winter Garden.
Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falcon - Faculty Director of Communications and External Relations for Engineering at the University of Sheffield and a strong advocate for women in Engineering.
Nancy Fielder - Editor of the Sheffield Star, Sheffield Telegraph and Doncaster Free Press, and offering an expert media opinion.
