Event description
Discover a classic fable and use your imagination to bring the characters to life using paper, fabrics, yarn and pens.

About this Event

John Ruskin, who was born 200 years ago in 1819, originally wrote The King of the Golden River in 1841 for 12 year old Effie Gray. It's a story of the triumph of love, kindness and goodness over evil.

In our workshop, we will first explore the story together and you will use your imagination to bring some of the characters to life, creating your own Golden River and its king or queen using a range of papers, ribbons and yarn.

You will then be able to decorate a cloth bag for your Golden river, using special pens and crayons. Children aged 8 and older may embroider their bags.

All materials are provided, and you will take your creations home with you.

Refreshments (orange squash and biscuits) provided.

Suitable for children age 6-12. Please note that children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
