About

Join an exciting family workshop with artist, lecturer and creative arts facilitator Jaquie Feldman and re-imagine what you may think about wasps, as part of Insect Week 2025.

Always on the side of bad press, it is common to think of wasps as the angry insect set out to sting humans at summer picnics, but did you know that there are over 100,000 species of wasp, of which those that do sting humans belong to around 70 species globally. In this workshop find out how wasps socialise, work together, hunt and provide so many positives to the environment.

This activity is the final workshop inspired by THE HERDS: a groundbreaking public art and climate initiative designed to inspire action and renew our bond with the natural world, touring internationally from April to August 2025. Wasps are not featured in THE HERDS but here at the Grant Museum we wish to shout about how important these tiny creatures are and that they also need to be protected and championed.

Access

The Grant Museum of Zoology is completely accessible to wheelchair users and those with limited mobility from street level via the main museum entrance.

Finding us

We are located in Bloomsbury, in the heart of central London. The nearest tube stations are Euston Square (Metropolitan, Circle, Hammersmith & City), Goodge Street (Northern Line), Warren Street (Victoria Line), and buses 18, 30, 73, 134 and 205 stop 3-5 minutes away on Euston Road.

Can we bring lunch with us?

To protect the Museum's collection, food cannot be eaten inside the venue and only bottled water with a lid can be drunk within the Museum space. There are plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants within 10 minutes walk of the Museum, and if you intend on bringing your own lunch, our staff will be able to point you in the direction of the best place to eat inside (or outside) on campus.
