Never made music on your device before? Well this is the perfect session for you! We will use the free website, Chrome Music Labs, in this basic session to learn for the first time how we can create music online! We will look at some of the free tools to create our own pieces of Marvellous Music!

We will be using the free website Chrome Music Lab, which is available on any device.

The workshop is held online via Zoom with an accredited trainer and a member of staff from the Family Fund team.

Please note:

Frequently asked questions

Who are these workshops for?

We are a UK-based charity, and all our workshops are intended for families who are living in the UK and are raising a disabled or seriously ill child or young person.

What do I need to take part?

An internet connection. A device to do your coding on. This can be a smartphone, Android tablet, iPad or PC. Please note that some workshops are only compatible with an iPad device. A second device (like a phone or tablet) where you can watch and listen to the trainer's instructions.

My family needs adjustments to join.

We cater for all families with a range of needs. If you have any questions about the accessibility of the sessions or would like to make us aware of adjustments you or your child might need, please email us at digitalskills@familyfund.org.uk.

What if we don’t want to be on camera?

That's absolutely fine! You're welcome to have your camera turned on or off during the workshop. We want you and your child to feel comfortable, so you can interact with the trainer and the session to a level that feels right for you.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

It is important that if you can no longer join a workshop, you let us know at digitalskills@familyfund.org.uk. Or you can cancel your booking in your Eventbrite account. Sessions are free, but places are limited, so please tell us if you can no longer attend.

Can children access the workshops by themselves?

An adult has to be present throughout the workshop. The sessions are suitable for the whole family, so siblings are very welcome to join in too. If you have two or more children joining, they can join on one device together or on a different device independently, whatever works best for you.

How do I keep my family safe online during these sessions?

All our trainers have appropriate checks in place including DBS checking, held and verified by our Apple reseller. If you have video on, please make sure you don’t have any sensitive documents or personal photographs visible. And don’t disclose any personal information such as bank details.

What ages is this session for?

We don’t specify an age range as we aim to be inclusive for a range of abilities. Our creative sessions are open to children and young people up to age 24.

How do I join a workshop?

The workshops will take place on Zoom. When you book your place, you’ll receive a confirmation email with information on how to access the Zoom link. You'll need your Eventbrite login and password, so keep it handy.
