Event description
Exploring your family history can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be. Join us for a family history show with a difference.

About this Event

Have you ever watched Who Do You Think You Are? and wondered what's hidden in your past? Or perhaps you've simply hit a roadblock in your research and need expert advice to take the next step. Now's the time to unlock your family history.

Join us for a day of friendly and fun practical workshops, expert genealogical advice, interactive installations, intriguing personal talks and more. Have your family photographs dated; meet a WWII evacuee; or find out about the where the wealth came from in your local stately home. A fun day out for people of all backgrounds and walks of life.

Our headline talk will be given by Robert "Judge" Rinder, who will be speaking about his experience on the BAFTA award-winning series Who Do You Think You Are? Other speakers include journalist and best-selling author Robert Winder; and Roger Kershaw, migration and family history specialist from The National Archives. Along with our event partners we will also be joined by organisations including Black Cultural Archives, The Society of Genealogists, the British Local History Association, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and many, many others.

Tickets cost £5, including admission to all talks and workshops as well as an opportunity to visit the Migration Museum's Room to Breathe exhibition. For full details of all talks and workshops visit our website. A selection of other activities taking place include:

- "Ask-the-expert" photograph dating with National Trust

- Family History Workshops from the London Metropolitan Archives

- An installation illuminating the history of black Britons with the Black Cultural Archives

- Find out the origins of the wealth behind Britain’s stately homes with Dr Corinne Fowler of the National Trust
