4 week online course on researching your family history with North Lanarkshire Heritage every Thursday from 12th May - 2nd June, 1pm-2.30pm.
About this event
Explore your family tree over four relaxed and friendly workshops using birth, death and marriage certificates, census returns, cemetery and poor relief records. Hints and tips on how to dig up the past using online and other resources. Presented by Margaret McGinty (Local Studies Officer) and Wiebke McGhee (Archivist) from North Lanarkshire Council.
- Session 1, 12th May: Course Introduction. Family History for beginners.
- Session 2, 19th May: Online resources for Family History researchers.
- Session 3, 26th May: Cemetery and Poor Law Records; and other archival records 1.
- Session 4, 2nd June: Introduction to Palaeography (reading old handwriting); and other archival records 2.
