Event description

Description

Part of the Families of War open day.

Saturday 3 November at 11am and 12 noon.

Dating back to medieval times, The Weaver's House is of significant historical importance. But the house has been home to many families over the centuries. At the time of the First World War, the house was home to the O’Neil family. Three of the young men that lived there joined the Army and were posted to France in WW1.

Only one of them returned.

One of our volunteers, Clare, is a descendant of this family and in this talk she will share the stories of her ancestors and give an insight into the life of a Coventry family of the era, including the war story of the O'Neil boys.

The talk will talk place in The Weaver's House and last approximately 40 minutes.

For this special event, The Weaver’s House have been awarded two There But Not There silhouettes funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. The silhouettes represent people who went to war and did not come back. We will be placing our silhouettes in the house itself, where the O’Neil boys lived.

Capacity in the house is restricted due to its size, so booking is essential. Limited seating.

You can find out more about the silhouettes at https://www.therebutnotthere.org.uk/
