Event description

Description

Anamorphosis is a technique for transforming pictures, including making flat pictures ‘jump’ into 3D when viewed from the correct place, or making pictures look flat when they are drawn on 3D objects. Street art, adverts on football pitches and even famous paintings all use these techniques to make the work come alive. In this Family Masterclass with Alan Davies, we will explore the mathematics of making these transformations and have a go at producing our own anamorphic art.

This workshop is aimed at 7-12 year olds with their families, but older students and adults are welcome. There must be at least one paying adult attending with each booking.

This Family Masterclass is based on our Mathematics Masterclasses, and is an opportunity for children and adults to work together, taking a hands-on approach to exploring different topics. Royal Institution Masterclasses inspire young people to experience the creativity, practice and relevance of mathematics, allowing them to explore the diverse ideas and applications within this far-reaching subject.

Discounted tickets are available to Members of the Ri. Find out more about how to join our community.
