Event description

Description

In this family masterclass with John Robinson, we will take a trip back in time to the 18th century, meeting Euler the mathematician and taking a walk around the city of Konigsberg. The journey will continue as network theory is explored, a branch of mathematics that Euler himself first developed. Questions such as how does a postman avoid travelling down the same street twice will be answered through exciting hands on activities which will require you to work together as a family to solve.

This workshop is aimed at 7-12 year olds with their families, but older students and adults are welcome. There must be at least one paying adult attending with each booking.

This Family Masterclass is based on our Mathematics Masterclasses, and is an opportunity for children and adults to work together, taking a hands-on approach to exploring different topics. Royal Institution Masterclasses inspire young people to experience the creativity, practice and relevance of mathematics, allowing them to explore the diverse ideas and applications within this far-reaching subject.

Discounted tickets are available to Members of the Ri. Find out more about how to join our community.
